Regardless of what you enjoy the most during UKA i Ås, if it’s the concerts, revue, sløyfa or a different activity, there are always one common factor framing the content. Yes, we are of course talking about the graphic design.

In the same way God creates Eden in the book of Genesis as a room for humans to play out their lives, UKA i Ås has made a graphic expression as a backdrop for all events that will happen during miniUKA and UKA i Ås 2020. The playful, vibrant and partly chaotic expressions for previous years have been reborn as a stylish, minimalistic and retro design. This is clearly intentional, as this year’s design is inspired by previous years to honor UKA i Ås’ anniversary.

Much of the influence is gathered from Samfunnet, UKErevues, our beautiful surroundings and traditions but also the future we are looking towards. Most people will be able to recognize the patterns, materials, and colors in the design profile. It contributes to creating a suit that can clothe the whole festival, everything from logos, to posters, merch and menus, without feeling foreign to us despite being brand new.

The goal of the expression is to awaken old traditions and bring them with us into the future. It shall bring attention to the festival without distracting from the actual events. This design will capture the timeless student spirit in Ås and be shown as a symbol of UKA i Ås. This is something for the nearly 1200 volunteers to look back on and be proud to be a part of.

To sum up, the graphic design promotes UKA i Ås’ identity, throws a glance back in the side mirror, and last but not least: Looks forward to an amazing UKE.
