About UKA i Ås

UKA i Ås is an old tradition with roots all the way back to the 1890’s, where it was for the first time ever organized student revue at Den Høiere Landbrugsskole paa Aas. UKA i Ås 2024 will be the 52nd UKE that gets arranged since 1924, when UKA were held like how we now know it today.

UKA i Ås is organized on a 100 percent voluntarily basis. The UKEboard gets chosen at the Studentsamfunnet’s general assembly spring each odd numbered year. They have the responsibility that UKA i Ås is carried out in the best way possible. Beneath them the UKEboard have Committee Leaders and funkises, that together constitute almost 1300 volunteers – over a fifth of the student body at Norway’s smallest university. Without this participation UKA i Ås would not be the same as what it is today. The pillars of this involvement are voluntariness and great collaboration, which gives UKA i Ås the force that it has.

With a visitor number over 28 000, UKA i Ås is Follos biggest cultural event. At least before we had a visit from our friend Covid. Despite that, we still succeeded to carry out the festival in 2020, in the best way possible. Studentsamfunnet got divided into three parts, and the events were managed with ease.

In 2008 when the readers of Østlandets blad were going to select name of the century in Follo, UKA i Ås pulled off the victory amongst many strong contestants. UKA i Ås is an important student organization, even outside Ås’ student body.

In March 2023 a new UKEboard were chosen. The work with UKA i Ås is well underway, and in March miniUKA is arranged as a teaser to the upcoming festival this fall. We are looking forward to it!
