What is UKA i Ås?
UKA i Ås is the longest student festival in Norway and is arranged by students at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. The festival is arranged in even numbered years and next UKE will be held in October 2024. This year the festival celebrates its 100 th anniversary and will be the biggest happening during the student days. That’s almost a whole month of concerts, talks, activities, and lots and lots of more!
What do I get by being a volunteer?
As a volunteer you get to participate in the community to create UKA i Ås, and an exceptional sense of accomplishment when you have completed the work. In addition, you will get various benefits like cheaper tickets on parties and events, plus cheaper prices on food and drinks at the festival. You will get friends and acquaintances that will last throughout your study days that you maybe otherwise wouldn’t meet. After the festival you’ll get rewarded with a certificate of service, a medal, and a gem to put on your CV.
What does it mean to be a funkis?
To be a funkis for UKA i Ås involves being a volunteer that contributes to the execution of the festival events and the work before, during, and/or after the festival. The funkises plays an important role in creating a successful and memorable festival experience for the participants. The festival depends on having many volunteers that wants to work for everyone that participates at the festival shall experience the infamous UKEfeeling. The festival lasts for almost a month, but the road towards it is almost the same for all of the volunteers. There are several admissions for UKA i Ås, where you can become a volunteer.

What does it mean to be a SC?
A second-in-command (SC) is the committee leader’s right-hand. The SC would have a little more responsibility than a funkis but would also assist with many of the same tasks as a funkis. A SC is often more involved with the planning part of what’s happening or has the responsibility for a specific thing within a block.
What are the different blocks?
UKA i Ås is divided into seven blocks where everyone has their own areas of responsibility. UKA i Ås contains of the Administration block, the Events block, the Party block, the House block, the Marketing block, the Revue block, and the Finance block. Each block consists of one Head of blocks, one assistant, some committee leaders, several second-in-commands and many funkises. The title for each block is very descriptive of what their work is about.
