The traditional UKEparade has one again got attention in the city of Oslo. UKA 2016 was opened in grand style by the different organisations of Ås in their organisational attire in all kinds of colors and variations with a big march up Karl Johan. Escorted by police and the trinity, all of the agricultural metropolis organisations and teams did their best to spread the happy UKE-message in the captial. Blæsen, our student band, were of course playing and was accompanied by beautiful songs by the choir Lærken, so «Jeg og’n Thorvald» echoed in the streets.
The march naturally got a lot of attention and was photographer by several asian tourists. There was, however, a disappointingly thin audiaence, possible being a Thursday afternoon and the population of the town at work. The march ended by the caste where the king himself was home. He unfortunatly did not come out to greet the march, but it is very likely he is now considering an UKEtrip to Ås.
